Smart Teachers' parent company, The Edwin Group, has teamed up with The Young People's Trust for the Environment (YPTE) to launch our Eco Action Awards for Schools - a new competition for secondary schools in England that aims to recognise and encourage action for sustainability among students.
Individuals and groups of young people aged 11 to 18 can take part in the competition by telling us about a project they are doing to improve and promote sustainability at school, such as setting up a recycling scheme, creating a new wildlife area, raising awareness of climate change or promoting sustainable transport. The winning entry will receive £2,000 for the school and two runner-up schools will each receive £1,000.
To enter the awards, students need to submit a short report along with an entry form completed by a teacher at the school. The report can be either a written report (up to 500 words) with supporting photos (up to 20), or a video (up to 3 minutes long).
The closing date for entries is Friday 31st March 2023. Entries must be submitted by a teacher via email to info@ypte.org.uk with the subject header 'Eco Action Awards Entry'. Entries which are too large to send by email can be sent via www.wetransfer.com to info@ypte.org.uk. Please visit the YPTE website for the full competition rules.
All entries will be judged by a panel, which will include young trustees of YPTE and staff from YPTE and The Edwin Group, and winners will be announced by Friday 5th May 2023.
Important note
Images from entries may be used on YPTE and The Edwin Group’s social media and websites, so relevant parental permissions should be obtained prior to the submission of entries. The Edwin Group nor YPTE will never publish the names of any students featured in photos or video clips.
