At Smart Teacher we are looking for dedicated and reliable Supply Teaching Assistants to support schools across Barking and Dagenham
About the role
As a supply teaching assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the learning and development of students across various age groups and subjects. You will work with teachers to assist with classroom management, support individual students, and ensure that learning continues in the absence of permanent staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of lessons under the guidance of the teacher.
- Support students with their learning, both individually and in groups.
- Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Work with students who may have additional learning needs, providing tailored support.
- Manage classroom behavior and ensure students remain focused and engaged.
- Carry out administrative tasks such as preparing learning materials, marking work, and setting up classroom activities.
- Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times.

- Mixture of Local Authority and Independent schools
- Schools will request teachers for longer term bookings
- A number of schools have on site parking and/or located close to tube stations
Requirements
To be considered for the role of Flexible Teaching Assistant you will:
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in a school setting.
- A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, or willingness to undergo one.
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
- A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) is desirable but not essential.
