Smart Teachers are working with a high-performing East London secondary school to recruit a Facilities Technician to join their experienced site team.
About the role

Day-to-day maintenance of the school site, fixtures, and fittings
-
Minor repairs across joinery, plumbing, electrics, painting and general building upkeep
-
Monitoring and maintaining plant equipment, air systems, BMS and safety mechanisms
-
Regular fire alarm testing and participation in emergency drills (Evacusafe training provided)
-
Furniture setup for events, exams, and assemblies
-
Liaising with external contractors and supporting out-of-hours lettings staff (School Space)

Receiving and recording deliveries, managing post and site logistics
-
Supporting staff requests via Slack and the school's helpdesk system

Occasionally driving the school minibus (training and licence conditions apply)

Requirements
To be considered for the role of Facilities Technician you will:
- Experience in facilities or site maintenance (school experience desirable)
- Practical skills in DIY, building maintenance, and basic electrical/plumbing work
- A proactive, reliable, and problem-solving mindset
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A full UK driving licence (D1 desirable for minibus driving)
- Basic IT skills (training provided)
- Awareness of safeguarding and site health & safety (training provided)
- First Aid experience or willingness to be trained
