Smart Teachers is recruiting for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a 'Good' school in Havering beginning in January 2025.
About the role
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide personalized support to a student with ASD, helping them to access the curriculum and succeed in their learning journey. You will work closely with the class teacher and special educational needs coordinator (SENCO) to implement individualized support plans and strategies, ensuring the student feels confident, motivated, and included in their educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 support to the assigned student, both in and out of the classroom.
- Assist with the delivery of lessons and activities, adapting content to suit the student’s needs.
- Promote positive behavior and social interaction to support the student’s emotional and social development.
- Monitor and track the student’s progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and SENCO.
- Help the student develop independent learning skills and self-confidence.
- Support with personal care needs, as required.
- Establish a strong, trusting relationship with the student, creating a safe and nurturing environment.

Requirements
To be considered for the role of 1:1 Teaching Assistant you will:
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undertake one)
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
- Previous experience working with children
- An understanding of SEN and experience supporting students with additional needs (desirable)
